Ghani Movie Review: Varun Tej Shows Off His Power In The Ring
It is all known that Tollywood's ace actor Varun Tej pinned all his hopes on his latest movie Ghani and also turned into a boxer for this sports drama. To best fit the bill, he underwent intense training under Tony Jeffries, the former England boxer who won a bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Going with the plot, it deals with both family and sports genres as the lead actor wants to prove his worth in the boxing ring hiding it from his mother.
The first half showcases how Ghani turns into a boxer hiding it from his mother (Nadiya). In the first 15 minutes itself, we come to know that Ghani wants to win the medal in the nationals and struggles hard for it. He gets trained under Naresh in Vizag and keeps it as a secret as he promised his mother to be away from this sport as his father is proved cheated in the same game. So, his mother wants him to be away from the game for the same reason. He is also seen facing troubles with another boxer Aadi (Naveen Chandra) who is a rich brat. But he also wants to prove his individual identity and faces off with Ghani. Well, they also have a face-off out of the ring in a biker boyz style.
Even his infatuation with the lead actress Saiee Manjrekar adds some romance to the movie. Well, just before the interval, the makers disclose who is Ghani's father and then the twist is revealed. So, the actual drama begins from there…
The flashback begins in the second half and showcases how Ghani's father is proved wrong in the ring! He will be tagged as a cheater! So, in the end, along with two main boxing matches, which make us sit at the edge of the seat, even the emotional family drama also makes the movie worth watching!
So, one needs to watch the movie to know how Ghani proves his talent to his mother and meets his father. Will he win a National medal or not?
Varun Tej as Ghani looked impressive and his amazing body transformation made him best fit the bill. His emotional connection with his parents made the movie worth watching. Lead actress Saiee has a limited screen space and she looked gorgeous and impressed all and sundry. Coming to Nadiya, she once again made us go aww with her amazing acting skills and showcased her best as a mother who wants her son to be away from her husband's impression! Bollywood's ace actor Suniel Shetty as a coach looked good while Jagapathi Babu as antagonist had a decent part in the movie. Naveen Chandra and Upendra also bagged decent roles!
Ghani is a decent boxing drama that can be watched once on the big screens despite having a routine story!
