Amaravati: SRM University-AP, Amaravati, in association with Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), launched UNITES Global Innovation Society – United Network for Sustainable Development Solutions on Saturday, aiming to bring scientists, academicians, industry representatives, government agencies and young researchers onto a common platform to address complex challenges. The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research (CIDR) of SRM University-AP will serve as the founding and host institution of the society, which will focus on collaborative research, innovation, scientific exchange and public engagement.
Prof Sarangam Vijaya Bhaskara Rao, Chairman-in-Charge, APSCHE, the chief guest, stressed the importance of strengthening the link between scientific research, higher education and society through multidisciplinary collaboration. Prof Achanta Venu Gopal, Director, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory and President of UNITES Global Innovation Society; SRM University-AP Vice-Chancellor Prof Ch Satish Kumar; Prof Vijayamohanan Kunjukrishna Pillai of IISER Thiruvananthapuram; Dr Kiran Mangalampalli, Associate Professor, CIDR and General Secretary of UNITES; and others also spoke on the occasion.
The first major event of the society will be held from December 27 to 29 at SRM University-AP on ‘Physics at the Interfaces of Matter, Light and Life’. The event will also feature VIGYAN SETU – National Science & Technology Expo. Eminent scientists and academicians from IIT Hyderabad, University of Hyderabad, DMRL Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IISc Bengaluru and other institutions attended the launch.
