Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the state is aiming to become a $3 trillion economy by 2047 with deep technology.
In his speech as chief guest for the FICCI@100 celebrations and Telangana Deep-Tech Leadership Summit held at the ITC Kakatiya Hotel, Begumpet on Wednesday, he said that research should be done outside of the lab and turned into products for the masses.
Hyderabad has huge potential to become a centre for deep tech, he said adding that Telangana can use its software, pharmaceuticals, biotech and aerospace industries to work closely with businesses, academia and government departments.
Vikramarka also encouraged the government working with the private sector to develop common testing centres and streamline certification for start-ups. Pilot schemes should be scaled up, he said, while renewable technology, energy storage and smart grid infrastructure should be innovative.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that advanced medical technology should be used to help detect diseases at an earlier stage while also developing affordable products for farmers. Products should be designed with cost effectiveness in mind.
Deep tech can provide much employment for the youth while helping small and medium industries increase productivity. Innovation should mean increased income for the public, better government services and new job opportunities.
Indian ideas and innovation should be turned into world class industrial businesses, he concluded.
