MLA Sunitha lashes out at YCP for obstructing BC quota
In Short
Notes that during YCP’s previous rule, 16,800 BC individuals lost their local body positions because the party failed to appeal the court’s strike-down in the Supreme Court

Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha addressing the media on Saturday
Anantapur: Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha expressed strong indignation, accusing the YCP of engaging in despicable politics to obstruct the Telugu Desam Party’s decision to provide 34% reservation for Backward Classes in local body elections. She sharply criticized YCP’s anti-BC policies and duplicitous stance.
Highlighting recent developments, Sunitha noted that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu issued G.O. Nos. 105 and 1065 solely to ensure political justice for weaker sections. She condemned YCP leaders for approaching courts to block local body elections and prevent BC reservations.
Recalling YCP’s previous five-year tenure, she stated that when the 34% reservation was struck down, the party betrayed BCs by failing to appeal in the Supreme Court, resulting in 16,800 BC individuals losing their local body positions. Sunitha remarked that YCP is now attempting to block the alliance government’s move to restore these positions.
She affirmed that while respecting the High Court’s verdict, the government will approach the Supreme Court and utilize every legal avenue to safeguard BC rights. Criticizing YCP for treating backward communities merely as vote banks, MLA Sunitha vowed that the government will ensure proper social justice and political representation for BCs.
