Anantapur: Focusing special attention on the politically sensitive town of Tadipatri ahead of the local body elections, District Superintendent of Police (SP) P Jagadeesh, IPS, conducted extensive field inspections on Tuesday to review security arrangements and law-and-order preparedness.
The SP began his tour at the Tadipatri Polytechnic College, where he inspected the designated EVM distribution and vote counting centres. He directed police personnel to enforce foolproof security measures, establish clear movement corridors for polling staff, and safeguard electoral equipment.
Proceeding to the Tadipatri Municipal Office—the venue for receiving nominations—SP Jagadeesh instructed officials to maintain tight security bands to prevent clashes or tense standoffs among rival political factions during the nomination filing process.
To instill public confidence, the SP personally inspected hyper-sensitive areas, including Nandalapadu, Om Shakti Nagar, and Srinivasapuram. He ordered field officers to keep close tabs on rowdy-sheeters and anti-social elements likely to cause election disputes.
Reassuring voters that the police department would guarantee a peaceful atmosphere for exercising their franchise, he warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to instigate riots or violence.
Later, during a strategy meeting at the Tadipatri DSP office, SP Jagadeesh issued explicit operational guidelines detailing dos and don’ts for the police force throughout the election cycle.
Tadipatri DSP M Chandrasekhar and Circle Inspectors Kranthi Kumar, Arohana Rao, Narayana Reddy, Srinivasulu, and Narendra Reddy participated in the inspection drive.
