Goddess Durga appears as Maha Chandi at Vijayawada Indrakiladri

Dussehra celebrations at the temple on Indrakiladri Hill have entered their fourth day, with the Goddess appearing as Sri Maha Chandi Devi on Wednesday.

Devotees began queuing early to seek blessings, as officials put arrangements in place to manage the crowds. Chants of “Jai Durga” echoed across the hill.

According to priests, Maha Chandi represents the combined power of Mahalakshmi, Mahakali and Maha Saraswati. Worshippers believe her blessings bring knowledge, fame and prosperity, and that prayers for specific wishes are fulfilled.

President of India Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit the temple and offer prayers. Police have made extensive security arrangements ahead of her visit.
