Nandyal: Widespread allegations of model code violations, police intimidation, and political bias surfaced during the ZPTC and MPTC elections across Gospaadu and Rudravaram mandals in Nandyal district on Thursday.
YSRCP state Central Executive Committee member PP Nagi Reddy accused the local administration and police of displaying blatant favoritism toward the ruling alliance. Addressing reporters, Nagi Reddy highlighted that TDP leader Bhuma Vikhyath Reddy, who belongs to a neighboring constituency, was permitted to move freely across polling stations in Gospaadu mandal in clear violation of election guidelines.
Conversely, local YSRCP leaders were allegedly placed under illegal house arrest. Nagi Reddy criticized the double standards, urging election authorities to enforce rules impartially across all political parties.
Simultaneously, CPI leaders staged a high-decibel protest near a polling station at Pedda Kambaluru village in Rudravaram mandal, demanding the immediate suspension of Sirivella Circle Inspector Praveen Kumar Reddy. The protesting leaders alleged that the Circle Inspector had been coercing CPI candidates to withdraw their nominations since the filing phase and was actively stopping CPI supporters from entering polling booths to cast their votes on Thursday.
CPI representatives accused the officer of intentionally disrupting a peaceful polling atmosphere to aid ruling party candidates.
Both YSRCP and CPI leaderships demanded immediate intervention from Nandyal District Collector G Rajakumari and the District Superintendent of Police to initiate disciplinary action against partisan officials and uphold the integrity of the democratic process across all remaining polling centers.
