Members of TDP and BJP attack each other with sticks and stones at Gummanur village in Chippagiri mandal on Thursday
Kurnool: Differences between two groups belonging to the ruling NDA alliance turned violent at Gummanur village in Chippagiri mandal of Kurnool district on Thursday, leaving around 30 people injured. The clash reportedly broke out between TDP and BJP supporters over the appointment of an election agent, exposing differences between the two alliance partners at the grassroots level.
According to reports, a dispute arose between the TDP group led by Hampayya and the BJP group led by Gummanur Narayana over the selection of an election agent. The disagreement soon led to heated arguments between supporters of the two groups, which gradually escalated into a violent confrontation.
The situation went out of control as members of both groups allegedly attacked each other with wooden sticks and pelted stones. Around 30 people from both sides sustained injuries in the clash. The violence triggered panic among villagers and created tension in the area.
The incident has caused a political stir in the district, as the confrontation involved two parties that are partners in the ruling NDA alliance. The clash has brought to the fore the lack of coordination and growing differences between sections of the TDP and BJP at the local level.
A dispute over the appointment of an election agent escalating into violence has also raised concerns over the maintenance of law and order during the ongoing election process.
