125 Karnataka-origin teachers honoured in Qatar

Doha/Bengaluru: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), affiliated with the Indian Cultural Centre under the Embassy of India in Doha, hosted a Teachers’ Day gathering honouring educators, school leaders and long-serving teachers.

The programme opened with a floral tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, followed by a traditional dance by KSQ children. General Secretary Sujith Kumar Hosdurga welcomed guests, while President Subramanya Hebbagelu highlighted KSQ’s initiatives and teachers’ role in community-building.

Chief guests were Sandeep Kumar, Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Doha, and Dr. Purushotham Bilimale, Chairman, Kannada Development Authority, Karnataka. Guests included Dr Abhilasha Panwar, Qatar Ministry of Education; Asna Nafees, DPS Group; A P Manikantan, ICC; Faisal Al-Dosari and Maryam Ali Hayati. School leaders, principals and representatives from major Indian schools attended, along with Ministry of Interior officials.

About 125 Karnataka-origin teachers from Qatar schools received traditional shawls, mementos and citations. KSQ children also presented a musical tribute.

Dr. Bilimale praised the community for preserving Kannada culture while contributing to Qatar. Community leaders from ICC, ICBF, ICBA and Karnataka organisations attended. Anshu Jain hosted, Faisal Al-Dosari performed guitar, and Mannai Home and Only Coffee supported the event. Vice President Anil Bhasagi proposed the vote of thanks.
