Govt bus tyre detaches on the move
Chikkamagaluru: A government bus belonging to the Shivamogga depot was proceeding from Sringeri toward Shivamogga when one of its tires suddenly detached from the axle while the vehicle remained in motion.
The episode unfolded on Thursday near the Nagalapura bridge in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru district. More than fifty passengers occupied the bus at the time. The driver’s presence of mind prevented what could have become a major accident, allowing everyone on board to escape harm.
The tyre that fell away struck and damaged another vehicle. Alarmed by the occurrence, the passengers alighted and seated themselves on the side of the road. They expressed anxiety regarding the maintenance and safety of government buses. The fact that a tyre came loose while the bus continued to travel has raised questions about the overall condition of the transport corporation’s fleet.
