Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Chennai, said on Sunday that the Centre would work with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay for the development of the southern state.

Recalling his experience of working with former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers, including late J Jayalalithaa and MK Stalin, PM Modi said his tenure as Chief Minister had helped him understand the expectations of states.

“As a CM, I got multiple opportunities to interact with Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa."

When I became Prime Minister, I got the opportunity to work with Jayalalithaa, O Panneerselvam, E Palaniswami, and MK Stalin. Governments may change, but my resolve for Tamil Nadu’s development, serving its people remains steadfast.” “We are taking this journey forward with CM Joseph Vijay…” Prime Minister Modi said. Modi made the remarks while addressing a gathering in Chennai after unveiling development projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore. The event was also attended by Chief Minister Vijay.

Reflecting on completing 25 years as head of government, he said his faith in the people and cooperative federalism had grown stronger. “My trust in the people and cooperative federalism has grown stronger. I have always taken the country’s development as my mantra,” the PM remarked.

Modi added that projects worth Rs 13,000 crore were being unveiled in Tamil Nadu. He said the initiatives would improve daily commutes, strengthen industrial and trade activities, and create employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

“Today’s program involves projects worth Rs 13,000 crore. We are inaugurating many completed projects and laying foundations for new ones. Some will make daily travel easier; others will strengthen industry and trade. Together, they will create jobs for young people across Tamil Nadu…,” he stated.
