ACB raids NIMS Addional Supt’s properties in massive DA case
Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on Tuesday registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Nori Lakshmi Bhasker, Additional Superintendent of Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, for allegedly acquiring wealth beyond known income sources through corrupt practices. Following the registration, ACB teams conducted simultaneous raids at his Erragadda residence and seven other locations linked to relatives, friends, alleged benamis, and associates. The case was registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, as amended in 2018. Lakshmi Bhasker served at NIMS for nearly 20 years, including five years as Deputy Superintendent, and previously faced past corruption allegations.
Bureau searches identified various movable and immovable assets with an official document value totaling approximately Rs 6.13 crore. Properties include a four-bedroom flat in a high-rise gated community, two three-bedroom flats in Kukatpally, five two-bedroom flats across Manikonda, Petbasheerabad, and Kukatpally, alongside four open plots at Yadadri, Nandigama, and Shamirpet. Investigators also unearthed an 800-square-yard open plot in Visakhapatnam city, Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, financial records revealed bank balances of Rs 41 lakh, post office deposits worth Rs 12 lakh, investments of Rs 35 lakh in private financial firms, and mutual fund holdings totaling Rs 29.55 lakh.
During operations, officials seized 517.8 grams of gold ornaments, electronic gadgets worth Rs 5 lakh, and luxury vehicles including a Jaguar, Audi, Tata Nexon, and four two-wheelers such as a Royal Enfield. Officials noted the real market value of these properties exceeds document valuations substantially. Investigations revealed Lakshmi Bhasker invested Rs 1.30 crore towards purchasing a flat currently under Debt Recovery Tribunal litigation and allegedly disbursed another Rs 1.33 crore as private hand loans to various individuals.
Verification of additional assets remains ongoing as the anti-corruption probe continues.
