Hyderabad: All eyes are now on former minister Konda Surekha as the Assembly is set to commence its session on Monday. The key question is whether she will attend the House following her dismissal from the Cabinet on September 3.
Surekha, who lost the Endowments, Environment and Forests portfolios four days ago, is set to face her first Assembly session as a former minister. Political circles are keenly watching whether she will attend the session in her capacity as an MLA or choose to stay away from the House.
If she attends, attention will also focus on where she will be seated and how she will interact with fellow legislators. Her appearance will be particularly significant as it will be her first opportunity to come face-to-face with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy after her removal from the Cabinet.
Surekha’s dismissal followed a political controversy triggered by remarks made by her daughter against the Chief Minister. With the issue still fresh, speculation is rife over how Surekha will conduct herself in the House and whether she will maintain a low profile or actively participate in the proceedings.
Her presence—or absence—on the opening day of the Assembly session is therefore expected to draw considerable political attention.
