Congress wants KCR in House

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders, including Ministers, on Sunday staged a ‘Maha Dharna’ at the Indira Park Dharna Chowk under the leadership of Government Advisor (BC Welfare) V Hanumantha Rao, demanding that Bharat Rashtra Samithi chief and Leader of the Opposition K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) attend Assembly sessions or resign from his position as Member of Legislative Assembly.

Congress leaders decried that KCR had remained largely confined to his farmhouse despite drawing public funds towards his salary, perks, and security expenses. They demanded that he attend the Assembly at least from the next session or step down as Leader of the Opposition and MLA. Addressing the gathering, IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu accused the BRS leadership of avoiding the Assembly while criticising the government from public platforms. He said the opposition party should raise its concerns inside the House, where the government would be prepared to provide answers.

He claimed that the Congress government was implementing its election promises one by one with accountability.

Sridhar Babu defended the free bus travel scheme for women and accused BRS and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of spreading "malicious propaganda" against the Congress government.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar questioned KCR's prolonged absence from the Assembly, saying the public was demanding accountability from elected representatives. He compared an MLA's responsibilities to those of an employee who could face action for prolonged absence from duty. Prabhakar also criticised the previous government's handling of double-bedroom housing and said the Congress administration was addressing the housing needs of the poor through the Indiramma Houses scheme. He claimed that around 70,000 jobs had been provided since the Congress came to power.

Minority Affairs and Public Enterprises Minister Azharuddin alleged that Opposition Leader KCR had remained at his farmhouse and skipped the Assembly for nearly 1,000 days while continuing to draw government funds. He demanded KCR’s resignation, claiming no ration cards were issued under BRS rule. Azharuddin praised CM Revanth Reddy as “a visionary leader fulfilling promises. ”

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud challenged BRS leaders to a public debate on the Congress government's 1,000-day tenure vis-à-vis the previous 10 years of BRS rule. He said the Telangana movement was fought over water, funds and jobs and claimed the Congress government had delivered significantly on welfare and development fronts despite inheriting a heavy debt burden.

Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi also demanded that KCR return to the Assembly. He accused the previous BRS government of failing to address people's concerns and said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was fulfilling promises made to the poor.

Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy demanded KCR’s resignation over his 1,000-day absence from the Assembly, urging him to attend from the next session. He accused the former CM of wasting public money and criticised BRS leaders, saying people recognise Revanth Reddy’s achievements during Congress’s 1,000 days in office.

Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh mocked KCR's absence, saying the former Chief Minister was "sleeping like Kumbhakarna", instead of attending the Assembly. He alleged that KCR continued to draw salary as an MLA despite failing to perform his responsibilities.

Former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and several other leaders also addressed the gathering denouncing KCR.
