Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday launched a sharp attack on BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) at the Nakrekal public meeting, asking him to attend the Assembly or resign from his MLA post with dignity.
Questioning KCR’s prolonged absence from the Assembly, Revanth Reddy said KCR had drawn a substantial amount in salary despite failing to discharge his responsibilities as an elected representative. “KCR, get ready and come to the Assembly, or else resign with dignity,” he said, challenging KCR and other BRS leaders to face him in the Assembly. The Assembly session is commencing on September 7.
Challenging the Kalvakuntla family on his governance, the Chief Minister said the Congress government’s 1,000-day performance would be compared with the 10-year rule of the previous BRS government to put the record straight.
Revanth Reddy declared that the Congress would not allow the BRS to regain political ground in Telangana. Comparing the BRS to a plant that should not be allowed to sprout, he said the pink party would be defeated in all the coming elections. He asserted that the Congress would win even in Sircilla and Gajwel constituencies unseating chief and deputy chief of the Opposition party. “Your time is in the past; you have no future,” he said, adding that the Congress would remove what he described as the “ganja plants” from the “Tulasi garden” of Telangana.
Revanth Reddy announced that he would visit Sircilla at the end of this month and hoist the Congress flag there. He said he would subsequently visit Siddipet and challenged BRS leaders to face the Congress politically.
Addressing the Kalvakuntla family, the CM said they should be prepared for a political battle and promised to give a “tit-for-tat” response in the upcoming elections. Revanth also expressed confidence that the Congress would retain power at least two more terms and said that “Indiramma Rajyam” would continue from 2024 to 2034. He said, “Let us settle the score in the upcoming elections. The Congress will win 117 seats if the number of seats increases, or it will win 90 seats if the total remains at 119. We will form the government again.”
Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had completed 1,000 days in office and criticised those questioning its performance. He urged the people to compare the welfare and development initiatives undertaken by the Congress government with those of the previous administration. He said the Congress government had not cancelled schemes introduced by the previous BRS government but had expanded them and made several programmes more accessible to the people. The Chief Minister also contrasted the Congress leadership structure with that of the BRS, pointing to the appointment of Mahesh Kumar Goud, from a Backward Classes community, as TPCC president. He questioned whether people from weaker sections had similar opportunities in the BRS party.
