Banners installed banning Ganesh idol immersion at Tank Bund
The GHMC and Hyderabad Police have installed flex banners at Tank Bund announcing a ban on the immersion of Ganesh idols there this year. These warning banners have been put up in compliance with earlier High Court orders. Issued in the names of the Hyderabad Police Commissioner and the GHMC Commissioner, the banners aim to inform devotees about the regulations.
Officials stated that these measures were taken in accordance with court guidelines regarding environmental protection and the need to prevent traffic congestion during the immersion process. They advised that, instead of Tank Bund, idols should be immersed only in the special 'baby ponds' set up by the GHMC across the city or at designated alternative locations near Hussain Sagar.
Check-posts have been established and CCTV cameras installed to ensure that idols are not transported towards Tank Bund in violation of the rules.
