Hyderabad: Telangana BJP State president N Ramchander Rao presided over a preparatory meeting on the Graduate MLC elections for the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituencies following the commencement of Form-18 voter registration.
Rao said the two elections, covering 10 combined districts and around 76 Assembly constituencies, were matters of great prestige for the party. He directed cadres to ensure every eligible graduate registers as a voter and prepare a robust action plan from the booth level.
Rao called upon the educated community to raise its voice against what he described as the “anti-people policies” of the Congress and BRS. He said the MLC elections would be a crucial political test ahead of future electoral battles. The party has already constituted special committees and initiated an action plan at all levels.
Claiming that the BJP had historically enjoyed strong support and a grassroots presence in the two Graduates’ constituencies since the Jana Sangh days, Rao cited the party’s performance in 2015 and subsequent elections.
He alleged that the BRS had failed to fulfil the aspirations of graduates, educated youth and the unemployed, particularly on job recruitment. He also claimed that public discontent was growing against the Congress government over pending DA, PRC matters and pensions, while graduates and unemployed youth were questioning unfulfilled election promises.
Rao said the BJP would approach the elections with unity and confidence, adding that the entire cadre would support whichever candidate the party announces.
He urged graduates, teachers, employees and intellectuals to participate in the elections and make their voices heard.
