BJP pounces on actor for flaying EC
In Short
The BJP leader called the actor’s comments unacceptable. “While criticism of the Election Commission is legitimate, comparing the CEC to idol immersion crosses the line from political dissent to disrespect for a Constitutional institution. Democracy demands debate, not derision,” Subhash said.

Hyderabad: BJP has strongly criticised Telugu film actor and political commentator Prakash Raj for his remarks about Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
State BJP chief spokesperson NV Subhash said on Saturday said that the actor, in an online video, urged the “Cockroach Janta Party” and others to do the “Nimmajan” (immersion) of the CEC, comparing it to the respected Ganesh Nimmajan tradition.
The BJP leader called the actor’s comments unacceptable. “While criticism of the Election Commission is legitimate, comparing the CEC to idol immersion crosses the line from political dissent to disrespect for a Constitutional institution. Democracy demands debate, not derision,” Subhash said.
He said Raj’s celebrity status does not give him a free pass to mock Constitutional authorities. Subhash said if Prakash Raj has issues with the SIR process, he should show proof to the right forum instead of using provocative language. “Dragging Ganesh Nimmajan into a political attack is deeply objectionable. Political disagreement cannot be an excuse to trivialise either faith or Constitutional offices,” he added.
