BRS MLAs Protest At Gunpark Over Congress Government’s 1,000 Days In Power

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders staged a protest at Gunpark in Telangana on Monday, targeting the Congress government over what the party described as its failure to fulfil election commitments during its first 1,000 days in power.

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, MLA Harish Rao and other party leaders participated in the demonstration. The leaders wore black T-shirts carrying messages criticising the Congress government’s performance and its implementation of election guarantees.

BRS Leaders Target Congress Over Election Promises

The protesters displayed slogans accusing the Congress government of failing to implement its guarantees. One of the messages on their T-shirts described the 1,000 days of Congress rule as a failure.

Addressing reporters, KT Rama Rao alleged that the Congress had come to power by making a large number of promises to different sections of Telangana’s population.

Rama Rao claimed that the party had made around 420 promises and assured voters that they would be implemented within 100 days of forming the government. He alleged that despite the government completing 1,000 days in office, the commitments remained unfulfilled.

KTR Says BRS Will Question Government In Assembly

Rama Rao said BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao had directed party legislators to raise questions over the Congress government’s performance during the ongoing Assembly proceedings.

According to Rama Rao, BRS MLAs would question the government about the implementation of its election commitments and raise issues concerning people across Telangana.

He said the party would continue to put questions before the government irrespective of criticism or opposition it may face inside the Assembly.

BRS Says Telangana Issues Will Be Raised During Session

Rama Rao also alleged that attempts by the Congress and BJP to target or weaken the BRS were not new, saying the party had faced similar political challenges in the past.

He maintained that BRS legislators would use the Assembly session to highlight issues affecting different sections of society and press the government for answers on its promises.

The demonstration in Gunpark coincides with the Congress government's 1,000th day in power. The BRS wants to use this milestone to draw attention to what it sees as deficiencies in the administration and fulfillment of electoral promises.
