KTR to lead ‘Karmika Garjana’ on October 14; Harish Rao targets Congress over profit share, falling profits

Bharat Rashtra Samithi
Hyderabad: The BRS will organise a massive public meeting, Singareni Karmika Garjana, at Ramagundam on October 14 to highlight issues confronting employees of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). BRS working president KT Rama Rao will attend the meeting as chief guest.
BRS Legislature Party Deputy Leader T Harish Rao on Wednesday called upon Singareni workers and people from coal belt areas to attend the meeting at 5 pm. Speaking after a meeting with TBGKS representatives and public representatives at Telangana Bhavan, he alleged that Singareni had been facing serious problems since the Congress government came to power.
Harish Rao said announcing profits and the workers’ share before Dasara had been a long-standing practice. He alleged that while workers received a 32 per cent profit share during the BRS regime, it fell to 16 per cent in the first year of the Congress government and to 12.5 per cent in 2024-25. He said Singareni earned Rs 4,712 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 6,394 crore in 2024-25, but estimated that this year’s profit may not exceed Rs 1,800 crore.
Rao blamed administrative failures, tender delays and higher-cost contracts, while questioning the need for another Rs 4,000 crore overdraft when Rs 6,323 crore was reportedly kept in banks.
