At a review meeting with officials of various departments at Aranya Bhavan on Friday, he called for increased surveillance on supplies arriving from Rajasthan and Gujarat. He asked GHMC officials to warn shopkeepers against selling synthetic manja and police to monitor e-commerce platforms for illegal sales.
Vinay Kumar also directed the School Education Department to create awareness among students and parents about the dangers posed by Chinese manja. Public awareness posters are to be displayed at bus stations, railway stations, markets and other crowded places.
He further instructed officials to prohibit synthetic manja at this year’s Tourism Department kite festival and prevent Indian rollers from being kept in cages at Durga pandals and temples. He stressed coordinated action by all departments to protect wildlife.
