Hyderabad: A century of faith and selfless service will come alive this weekend as the historic Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda celebrates its centenary with a series of grand religious programmes on September 19 and 20.

Founded in 1926, the Gurudwara has been an integral part of Hyderabad’s social and spiritual landscape for 100 years. From a place of worship, it has evolved into a spiritual home and a centre of community service, carrying forward the Sikh values of faith, equality, brotherhood and sewa across generations.

The centenary celebrations, being organised by the Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda in association with Sikh Gurudwaras across Telangana, are expected to bring together members of the Sikh community and devotees from across the city and State.

CGSG Prabhandak Committee, President, S Trilok Singh said that as part of the Centenary celebrations, Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda is going to organise major centenary events on September 19 and 20.

The main Centenary programme, ‘Vishaal Diwan’, a mass religious congregation, will be held at the Exhibition Grounds on Nampally Road on September 20 from 11 am. to 5 pm. Renowned Ragi Jathas and preachers, including Bhai Jagjeet Singh Babiha of Delhi, Bhai Balpreet Singh of Ludhiana, Bhai Jagpreet Singh Khannewale and Bhai Ravinder Singh, will render Shabad Kirtan.

Adding significance to the historic celebrations, several prominent Sikh spiritual and community leaders are scheduled to participate in the programmes. Singh Sahib Sant Baba Kulwant Singhji, Jathedar (Head Priest) of Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, and Sant Baba Balwinder Singhji, Hazur Sahib Wale, associated with Gurudwara Langar Sahib, Nanded, Baba Teja Singhji (Jathedar Gurdwara Mata Sahib Devan Ji Nanded)are expected to visit Hyderabad on September 20, 2026. Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Surinderpal Singh Saluja and other prominent Sikh personalities will also participate in the centenary events.

A Vishesh Kirtan Darbar will be organised at Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda on September 19 from 8 pm to 11.30 pm., with leading Ragi Jathas participating in the devotional programme. An Amrit Sanchar (holy baptism) will also be held at the Gurudwara at 9 am on the same day. During all these events, Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to all the devotees. For the Sikh community, the centenary is more than a celebration of a historic institution. It is an occasion to remember a hundred years of spiritual heritage, community life and service, while reaffirming the values that have connected the Gurudwara with Hyderabad across generations.
