Make health a priority, says Director of Public Health

Hyderabad: Dr BRavinder Nayak, Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Telangana, has urged people to make their health a priority and not take any unusual symptoms or changes lightly.

Speaking at hmtv Healthcare Awards-2026 ceremony, Dr Ravinder advised individuals to pay close attention to their health, seek medical advice promptly when they notice anything abnormal, and undergo early diagnosis and treatment, since timely medical intervention can help prevent complications and improve health outcomes. Dr Ravinder appreciated hmtv for organising informative programmes aimed at creating greater awareness about health and preventive care.

On this occasion, Dr Ravinder, along with Dr Taduri Gangadhar, Professor of Nephrology and Head, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, and hmtv & The Hans India Managing Director K Hanumanta Rao ceremonially lit the traditional lamp and presented the awards.

The awards recognised medical professionals across specialised fields including neurosurgery, neurology, orthopaedics, robotic joint replacement, oncology ophthalmology, and healthcare services.

At the event, Dr Gangadhar said that India had an important role to play in meeting the growing global demand for trained healthcare professionals under the nation’s initiatives such as ‘Heal in India’ and ‘Heal by India’.He said several countries were facing a shortage of trained dialysis technicians and other healthcare professionals. “Many countries do not have enough dialysis technicians and are looking towards India to develop and provide more trained technicians and supporting healthcare staff,” he said.

Dr Gangadhar appreciated hmtv for organising programmes that provide a platform to discuss developments as well as challenges and opportunities in the healthcare sector.

List of awardees

Dr Bharath Reddy Katta, MS (Ortho), FIJR, Robotic Joint Replacement, Arthroscopic and Trauma Surgeon at Srikara Hospital, received the Orthopaedic Surgeon of the Year award, while Dr Vikram Kishore Reddy, MBBS, DNB (Pediatrics), DNB (Neurology), Medicover Hospital, was honoured as the Best Neurologist of the Year. Dr Rakesh Komuravelli of Fortis Hospital, a specialist in joint replacement and robotic knee and hip replacement, was presented the Robotic Joint Replacement Surgeon of the Year award. Dr Anvesh Goud Ch, Robotic Knee Replacement, Arthroscopy and Trauma Surgeon at Srikara Hospital, received the Robotic Knee Replacement Surgeon of the Year award.

Pasha Hospital, represented by Dr SD Gouse Pasha of Bannu Hospital, Warangal, received the Rural Hospital of the Year – Eturnagaram award, while Dr P Ranganadham, HoD and Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Neurosurgery.

Senior neurosurgeon Dr KV Shivanand Reddy was honoured with the Innovative Neurosurgeon of the Year award.

The Deccan Hospital, Somajiguda, represented by Managing Director C Damodar Reddy, received the Orthopaedic Hospital of the Year award.

Dr Arrjun S, Consultant Surgical Oncologist and Robotic and HIPEC Surgeon at Srikara Hospital, received a Special Award as Robotic Oncologist. Dr RA Purnachandra Tejaswi, Director and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Arthroscopy, received the Orthopaedic Surgeon (Shoulder and Elbow) of the Year award. Rohini Hospital, represented by Dr P Vijaychandar Reddy, was honoured with the Neurology Hospital of the Year – Warangal award, while Koorapati Hospital, represented by Dr Koorapati Ramesh, was honoured as the Sub-Urban Hospital of the Year – Hanamkonda.

In the PRO category, K Srinivas of KIMS Hospital, M Mahender, PR & Media In-charge at KIMS-Sunshine Hospitals, and M Shiva Shankar of Apollo Hospitals were honoured.
