Hyderabad: Though the ex-tourism minister of AP, Bhuma Akhila Priya, planned the kidnapping in a meticulous way, one phone call gave her entire efforts away and it was enough to prove her role in the crime.

Based on the confessions of the arrested persons, it is learnt that they purchased six new SIM cards for the execution of crime through one Mallikarjun Reddy from a mobile store in Miyapur on January 2 and the SIMs were activated on January 3. One SIM card with number 7095637583 was used by Akhila Priya to stay in contact with the kidnappers and she was in regular touch with Guntur Srinu on numbers 7036597560 & 7032966415 during the offence. She also has her own number 9502248888.

"The critical evidence which gave away Akhila Priya and is enough to prove her role in the crime is that after execution of the crime, the accused Guntur Srinu dialled Akhila Priya on her regular number 9502248888 from 7032966415 and immediately disconnected it. Later, the same number was used by them to call the DCP of North Zone wherein the accused forced the victims to inform that they were safe and sound. We have also traced their entire route from source to destination using their new and old phone numbers and figured out the locations wherein they were interacting with each other," stated Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar.

On January 5, the kidnappers of Praveen Rao were in constant touch with Akhila Priya through the new numbers and on the same day they also visited the MGM School in Yousufguda (which belongs to Bhargav Ram) to change their costumes and number plates of their vehicles. After getting ready to commit the crime they proceeded according to their plan and kidnapped Praveen Rao and his brothers, said Anjani Kumar.
