Open your eyes! Demolition sword hangs over unauthorised constrns!
Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has intensified its drive against unauthorised constructions across the municipal limits, with 55 illegal constructions identified and demolished as of October 12. The enforcement drive covers the Malkajgiri, Uppal, and LB Nagar zones, targeting additional floors, unauthorised extensions, rooms constructed beyond approved plans and other building violations.
According to municipal records, the drive covers 14 municipal circles, with demolition particulars documented for 53 cases. The action primarily targets buildings where owners have allegedly violated sanctioned plans by adding floors, extending structures, or making unauthorised alterations. Demolition measures include removing slabs, walls, columns, centring work, and other structural components.
In the Malkajgiri zone, officials recorded several violations involving additional floors and unauthorised extensions. In Bowenpally, action was taken against unauthorised construction at properties in Fathenagar, including the removal of an unauthorised structure and centring work for a proposed third floor. In Moula-Ali, a building in Old Safilguda was identified for unauthorised first- and second-floor slabs and walls. In Malkajgiri circle, officials recorded the removal of third-floor slabs and walls from buildings in PVN Colony and Prasanth Nagar.
The Uppal zone accounted for 24 of the 55 identified cases, with Ghatkesar and Kapra among the areas where violations were recorded. In Ghatkesar, a building belonging to Kokala Shuruthi exceeded the sanctioned stilt-plus-two-floor configuration, prompting action against unauthorised upper-floor construction. In another case at Yamnampet village, additional columns raised for a proposed third floor were removed.
In Kapra, unauthorised first- and second-floor construction at a property in Meenakshi Nagar, Kushaiguda, was targeted. Officials also demolished part of a fourth floor at a building in Kamala Nagar, Dr A.S. Rao Nagar, where construction exceeded the approved stilt-plus-three-floor configuration. In Nacharam, rooms built within the stilt-floor area beyond the sanctioned plan were identified for action. Officials also recorded demolition of unauthorised first- and second-floor construction in Nagole circle. The LB Nagar zone accounted for 13 identified cases across Nagole, Saroornagar, LB Nagar, and Hayathnagar circles. In Lecturers Colony, Hayathnagar, officials removed unauthorised second-floor walls and centring work for a proposed third floor. In Saroornagar, action was recorded against construction exceeding the permitted stilt-plus-two-floor limit, including an unauthorised penthouse. In Alwal, a compound wall and ACC-roofed rooms near a mineral water treatment plant were also identified as unauthorised structures.
Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy said the corporation planned to conduct demolition drives every Tuesday as a weekly enforcement exercise.
