TGSRTC launches common Bus-Metro pass
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has introduced a series of digital initiatives aimed at making public transport more convenient, seamless and passenger-friendly across Greater Hyderabad and the Core Urban Region (CURE).
As part of its digital transformation drive, TGSRTC has launched the MeeTicket mobile application and, in association with Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), introduced a common bus–Metro travel pass to facilitate easier interchange between the two modes of public transport. The new pass integrates TGSRTC city bus services with Hyderabad Metro Rail, allowing passengers to travel on both networks using a single pass.
According to official estimates, the RTC currently serves around 25 lakh passengers daily in Greater Hyderabad, while Metro carries approximately 4.50 lakh passengers every day across its three corridors.
The common pass will be available at all Metro stations and can be used on all TGSRTC city bus services operating within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), except Pushpak services, as well as on Hyderabad Metro Rail services.
The common pass is available in two categories – Day Common Pass: Rs 400, valid for one-day (TGSRTC Rs 100 and HMRL Rs 300) and Monthly Common Pass: Rs 8,500, valid for 30 days (TGSRTC Rs 1,500 and HMRL Rs 7,000) and Rs 100 card fee will be collected at the time of the first purchase. The amount will be refunded when the card is returned.
TGSRTC VC and MD Y Nagi Reddy said that the integrated pass is intended to make Bus–Metro transfers more convenient, improve last-mile connectivity and encourage greater use of public transport. It is also expected to help reduce dependence on private vehicles, traffic congestion and vehicular pollution.
Moreover, TGSRTC has also introduced the MeeTicket app, which provides an Open Ticketing facility for passengers. Through the app, passengers can select their boarding point, destination and ticket type, and make payments digitally. Once the payment is completed, a digital ticket containing a Dynamic QR Code is generated immediately.
Passengers can display the QR ticket on their mobile phones during the journey for verification by bus staff. The MeeTicket app also offers a digital weekly bus pass priced at Rs 600 for regular bus commuters.
The pass provides unlimited travel on all buses for seven days, allowing passengers to purchase the pass directly through the app without visiting a physical bus pass centre.
