UltraTech’s India Next Stimulus Grand Finale Hosted at MRDU

Hyderabad: Malla Reddy (MR) Deemed to be University (MRDU) hosted the Grand Finale of India Next Stimulus, a national-level civil engineering quiz competition organised by UltraTech Cement, at its campus in Maisammaguda village under Gundlapochampally Municipality.

Speaking on the occasion, MRDU Pro-Chancellor Smt. Shalini Mahender Reddy said it was a matter of great happiness and pride for the university to host the final round of the prestigious national-level competition. She highlighted the vital role of civil engineers in the development of the nation, from road infrastructure to smart cities. She also expressed special gratitude to the UltraTech team for selecting MRDU as the venue for the Grand Finale.

MRDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ravinder Reddy congratulated all the students who qualified for the Grand Finale. He said it was encouraging to see industry experts and professionals visiting MRDU. He also highlighted the university’s Executive Ph.D. programme for professionals with decades of industrial experience and encouraged eligible professionals to make use of the opportunity.

MRDU Registrar Prof. Srinivas, in his address, spoke about the university’s 24-year journey. He recalled the institution’s establishment as Malla Reddy Engineering College in 2002 and its transition to an autonomous institution in 2011, along with its achievements in NBA, NAAC accreditations and NIRF rankings. He urged students to draw inspiration from UltraTech’s growth from a cement company into diverse areas including electrical wires, paints and interior solutions.

Mr. Macha Rao, National President – Sales, UltraTech, spoke about India’s infrastructure development following the economic liberalisation introduced by the P. V. Narasimha Rao government in 1991. He highlighted the significant expansion of the country’s road and metro rail networks over the past two decades. He noted that India’s growing economy and infrastructure development are creating extensive employment opportunities for engineers from traditional disciplines such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Dr. Sudarshan Reddy, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, MRDU, and Dr. Siva Ram Prasad, Programme Coordinator, informed that six civil engineering students from leading higher education institutions across the country have qualified for the Grand Finale. Adhvika Pati from Odisha emerged as the winner and received a cash prize of ₹50,000/-.

The keynote address by young entrepreneur and IIT Madras alumnus Mr. Aravind Kumar was one of the highlights of the programme. His session provided valuable insights into the application of 3D printing technology in the construction industry and attracted considerable interest from the participants and guests.

The organisers expressed their gratitude to the university management, UltraTech representatives, faculty members and students for their support in successfully conducting the Grand Finale.
