ACP warns of legal action against highway protests
Karimnagar: Huzurabad ACP V. Madhavi on Tuesday warned that protests disrupting traffic on national highways would invite legal action, urging people to approach police through proper channels to resolve grievances.
Speaking at a press conference, she said complaints from the six mandals under the Huzurabad police subdivision would be investigated by the concerned officers in accordance with the law. She appealed to complainants to cooperate with investigations, which require time to verify facts and evidence.
Madhavi said a case was registered on October 9 following a complaint by Bajjuri Tirumala, 57, of Bommakal village. On October 11, Challuri Komala, Moluguri Lakshmi and other women allegedly staged a highway protest for around 30 minutes, claiming injustice to Tirumala.
A case was subsequently registered against Tirumala, Komala and Lakshmi at Huzurabad police station. Madhavi said highway blockades inconvenience commuters, including patients, students and employees, and warned that further violations would be dealt with according to law.
