Prathima Hospital organises walkathon on breast cancer awareness
Karimnagar: Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences organised a walkathon on Sunday to promote breast cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of early detection, regular screening and timely treatment. More than 350 participants, including doctors, hospital staff and nursing students, took part.
Organised by the hospital’s General Surgery Department, the walkathon began at the IMA building and passed through Geetha Bhavan junction and the Collectorate before concluding at Ambedkar Stadium. Additional Collector Dr Ashwini Tanaji Wakade, the chief guest, emphasised the need to educate women about breast cancer symptoms and regular medical check-ups.
IMA president Dr Arun Kathari said the awareness campaign was being held for the fourth consecutive year, with screening and treatment initiatives continuing until October 31. Doctors urged women to seek medical advice for suspicious symptoms, undergo recommended screening and dispel misconceptions about cancer. Senior hospital officials and specialists from other medical institutions also participated.
