Karimnagar: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday highlighted ongoing urban development projects in Karimnagar and criticised the Congress over proposed changes to the school curriculum.

Speaking at the Karimnagar Collectorate, Bandi Sanjay said projects worth Rs 840 crore were being taken up under the Urban Challenge Fund, covering waste management, dumping-yard remediation, riverfront development, transport, drainage and flood mitigation.

He said a Central Library built for Rs 5.70 crore under the Smart City Mission, an Integrated Command Control Centre and DRF building costing Rs 16.50 crore, and an Integrated Market at Kashmiri Gadda worth Rs 6.50 crore had been inaugurated. Foundation stones were also laid for Rs 21-crore stormwater drainage works, while a Rs 25-crore multi-level parking facility was taken up at Tower Circle. On curriculum changes, he questioned whether references to Article 370, the Ram temple-Babri Masjid dispute, surgical strikes, the armed forces, Nizam’s rule and the Razakars would be altered or removed. He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah would visit Karimnagar on October 4.
