BJP claims credit for RTC workers’ victory

Khammam: The strike by RTC workers in Telangana was called off after the state government responded positively to the demands made, with the BJP, on Saturday, claiming that the protest succeeded due to sustained support from the party. BJP state treasurer Devaki Vasudev Rao said the agitation by RTC employees for their legitimate demands had ultimately yielded results, forcing the government to come forward with assurances.
“The unity, determination, and relentless struggle of the workers have led to this outcome. The government had to step in and address their issues,” Rao said in a statement.
He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stood firmly with RTC workers from the beginning of the strike and extended full support to their cause.
However, he criticised the ruling Congress government, alleging that it failed to act in time and allowed the situation to escalate, causing hardship to workers and their families. He warned the government against playing with the lives of workers and the public in the future.
Rao further said that the BJP would continue to fight for the rights of workers and remain committed to public welfare.
The RTC workers had launched the strike demanding resolution of key issues related to their service conditions, prompting disruptions in public transport services across parts of the state. Following discussions and assurances from the government, the workers decided to withdraw the strike.
