Kandakam vegetable market
Wanaparthy: “Officials must focus on making the market operational and useful to the public; measures must be taken to bring the Kandakam vegetable market into use; clean and arrange for the weekly market there,” urged district collector Adarsh Surabhi on Thursday.
He ordered officials to take immediate steps to operationalise the market located near Gandhi Chowk here, which has remained unused and incomplete.
Surabhi visited the market to inspect the site. He conducted a field inspection following complaints that the market, despite being constructed, remained unused. He inquired about the facilities and the cleanliness and sought to understand reasons why the market had not yet become operational.
The collector directed the municipal commissioner to thoroughly clean the market, ensure the surrounding areas are kept tidy, and provide basic amenities. Arrangements be made to relocate the town’s weekly market to Kandakam. He stated that after relocating the weekend market to the designated market site, measures would be taken to complete pending works and provide better facilities for the public and traders. He directed officials to focus specifically on making the market fully functional and beneficial to the public. Additional collector (local bodies) Khimya Naik, municipal chairperson Madhavi, commissioner Niranjan, officials, public representatives, and residents were present.
