Scrap GO 97, clear fee dues, issue job notifications: BRS MP Vaddiraju

Kothagudem: BRS parliamentary party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra on Saturday demanded that the government withdraw GO 97, which he alleged was adversely affecting the future of polytechnic students, clear pending fee reimbursement dues of Rs 13,000 crore, and issue notifications to fill all vacant government posts.

Ravichandra made the demands while leading a padayatra along with students, unemployed youth and BRS workers in Bhadradri Kothagudem district headquarters, as part of the party’s campaign highlighting what it described as the Congress government’s failures during its 1,000 days in office.

Around 3,000 students and youngsters participated in the march from the market area to Super Bazaar, carrying placards and raising slogans against the state government.

Addressing the gathering, Ravichandra said students and youth had historically played a major role in bringing about political and social change. Referring to the Telangana statehood movement, he said students had been at the forefront of the agitation.

He also cited protests by students and youth over the NEET question paper leak, claiming that sustained protests had forced the Centre to take action.

Ravichandra alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil its promises to students and educated youth and claimed that students who should be attending colleges were instead being forced to take to the streets over their problems.

He criticised the state government over pending fee reimbursement payments, saying that despite an annual state budget of around Rs 3 lakh crore, the government had failed to clear the alleged Rs 13,000 crore dues.

The BRS MP also criticised the government over GO 97, alleging that it would adversely affect polytechnic students’ higher education opportunities. He further alleged that the Congress government’s Youth Declaration had not been implemented in the first 1,000 days of its tenure and questioned the government over promises made to unemployed youth.
