Steps to strengthen Telugu skills among tribal students

Khammam: Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer B Rahul has initiated a series of competitions to encourage tribal students to develop proficiency in Telugu and appreciate the richness of the mother tongue.

As part of Telugu Language Day celebrations, competitions in poetry, captions, verses, one-minute Telugu speeches, mono-acting and quizzes were conducted at the Tribal Bhavan on Tuesday. Students participated in the cultural programmes showcasing their creativity and Telugu language skills.

Rahul paid floral tributes to the portrait of noted Telugu poet Kaloji Narayana Rao and interacted with the students. He later presented certificates and books on Telugu literary figures to the winners of various competitions.

Speaking on the occasion, Rahul said such competitions would help improve students’ command of Telugu, enhance their knowledge of the mother tongue and bring out their creative abilities. He said opportunities of this nature could encourage students to explore different fields and develop their talents.

He also highlighted the richness of the Telugu language, recalling the traditional appreciation of Telugu as one of the finest among Indian languages.

Khammam Deputy Director of Tribal Welfare Phirangi, Bhadrachalam DD Tribal Welfare Chandana, Gurukulam RCO Arun Kumari, ACMOs Ramesh and Ramulu, ATDOs Chandramohan, Radhamma and Bharathi Devi, Sports Officer Gopala Rao and other officials and staff participated in the programme.
