Special measures in place to resolve Udandapur R&R issues
Mahabubnagar: District Collector Khushboo Gupta, along with Jadcherla MLA Janampally Anirudh Reddy, held a review on the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) issues of the displaced families of the Udandapur Reservoir at the Collectorate on Thursday.
The Collector reviewed the R&R issues with the sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and ward members of Vallur and Udandapur villages, along with the concerned district officials. Officials briefed the Collector and MLA on the compensation and rehabilitation process in Udandapur, Vallur, Polepally, Ontigudise, Shamagadda Thanda, Chinnagutta Thanda, Tummalagutta Thanda and Regadipatti Thanda. They said land acquisition awards had been issued and almost all compensation had been paid.
The Collector said nearly 99 per cent of land acquisition awards had been completed and the amounts payable towards land acquisition, house packages and house sites had been deposited into the beneficiaries’ accounts. She said the remaining one per cent of cases would be examined individually and resolved. She directed sarpanches to immediately conduct gram sabhas and pass the necessary resolutions to expedite allotment of plots in the R&R layouts so that beneficiaries could take up house construction.
The Collector instructed officials to systematically receive complaints from R&R beneficiaries and provide clear written replies on each case. Reasons should be clearly communicated when applications are rejected, while details should be provided when eligible cases are approved. She said the MLA, public representatives and officials would meet every 15 days to review pending issues and stressed the need for better coordination among departments.
Meanwhile, MLA Reddy said he would work with the district administration to resolve R&R-related issues. He urged sarpanches to conduct gram sabhas at the earliest and take steps to resolve as many pending issues as possible within the next 15 days.
The MLA also called for expediting plot allotments and resolving pending cases. He said steps would be taken in coordination with the concerned departments regarding infrastructure such as burial grounds/crematoriums, function halls and roads in the rehabilitation areas.
On the issue of exemption from plot registration fees, Anirudh Reddy said action was already underway and efforts would be made to coordinate with the concerned department and secure orders at the earliest.
He asked officials to prepare a complete list of all pending R&R applications for the next review meeting and examine each application individually. He also directed officials to provide clear written reasons in cases that could not be resolved.
Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Madhusudhan Naik, Assistant Collector (Under Training) Sai Shivani, Land Acquisition Deputy Collector Ram Reddy, RDO Naveen, Panchayat Raj SE, Irrigation Department officials, and elected representatives from Vallur and Udandapur villages attended the meeting.
