Nellore: District Election Officer and Collector Himanshu Shukla has directed officials to strictly enforce the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) to ensure that the upcoming local body elections across Nellore district are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
Inspecting the central election control room established at Tikkana Pranganam in the Collectorate on Saturday, Collector Shukla thoroughly reviewed the operational duties assigned to specialized monitoring teams and issued crucial guidelines for the strict implementation of election regulations. Addressing team heads, Himanshu Shukla stated that the control room will continuously monitor election proceedings district-wide. A 24-hour helpline—0861-2331261—has been operationalized for citizens to lodge complaints, report code violations, or seek official poll-related information.
The District Election Officer highlighted that multi-disciplinary units—including Flying Squads (FSTs), Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs), the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), election expenditure tracking cells, and grievance redressal teams—have been deployed to inspect violations, scrutinize media coverage, and audit campaign spending.
