Kakani demands SEC probe into local body poll violence and coercion

Alleging that former ministers, MPs, and MLAs have also been targeted, the YSRCP leader stated that the opposition has lost faith in the government and institutions under its control.

Former Minister and YSRCP district president Dr Kakani Govardhan Reddy
Nellore: Former minister and YSRCP district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy has urged the State Election Commission (SEC) to order an impartial probe into alleged attacks, intimidation, and forced withdrawal of candidates in the ongoing local body elections. Addressing a press conference at the party office in Nellore on Tuesday, Kakani stated that the YSRCP has submitted documented evidence of poll-related highhandedness to the SEC.
Demanding that polling and counting be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent atmosphere, he insisted on an independent inquiry to pinpoint responsibility among officials and political leaders. Questioning the administration’s intent, Kakani asked what punitive measures authorities would take once the submitted allegations are substantiated.
Alleging that former ministers, MPs, and MLAs have also been targeted, the YSRCP leader stated that the opposition has lost faith in the government and institutions under its control. He expressed serious misgivings about whether the electoral process could proceed without state interference, while affirming that the YSRCP would not be intimidated and would pursue legal remedies to protect its candidates. Furthermore, Kakani appealed to the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and the state government to protect citizens who recorded videos of election malpractices rather than threatening them with criminal cases.
