Nellore: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy on Thursday launched a sharp counterattack against YSRCP leaders over allegations of illegal mining against Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy (VPR).
Addressing a press conference at VPR’s office in Nellore, she dismissed claims by former Minister Anil Kumar Yadav and former MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy as false propaganda driven by political frustration.
Stating that she is presenting the facts before the media acting on the directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh, Prashanthi Reddy said Anil, defeated in 2024 elections, was resorting to ‘betrayal politics’. She recalled that he had earlier pleaded with Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy for help, claiming he would be left destitute.
Prabhakar Reddy, the MLA asserted, holds legitimate mining contracts worth around Rs 50,000 crore across the country and entered politics only after achieving financial success to serve the people.
She admitted the VPR group briefly entered quartz industry in 2024 to create local jobs but withdrew in 2025 to avoid controversy.
She further alleged that vigilance reports were being prepared on illegal mining by Prasanna Kumar Reddy in Talamanchi, Panchedu and Rajupalem. Prashanthi warned that voters would reject such conspiracies in the coming local body polls.
