YSRCP alleges large-scale corruption in NMC

Nellore: YSRCP Nellore district president and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, alongside MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, alleged large-scale corruption and financial irregularities within the Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) under Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana.

Addressing a press conference at the YSRCP district office, leaders stated that the corporation’s annual tax collection target has skyrocketed from approximately Rs 66 crore during the previous government to Rs 154 crore currently, placing an undue financial burden on residents.

MLC Chandrasekhar Reddy noted that water tax collection targets have similarly jumped from Rs 7 crore to Rs 30 crore, with poor families facing severe pressure and property attachment threats over dues.

Furthermore, the opposition alleged that garbage collection autos were discontinued in favor of 126 tractors belonging to Prithviraj Constructions—associated with a follower of Minister Narayana—incurring a monthly expenditure of Rs 1.67 crore.
