Dipke calls for Tricolour march tomorrow
New Delhi: With CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka in Tihar Jail, party founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday called for a 'Tricolour march' at Delhi’s Connaught Place on Friday, challenging the police action against the activists. In a video posted on X, Dipke asked people to assemble at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5pm on October 16, carrying the national flag. He also urged people in other cities to organise similar marches, framing the call as a protest against the arrests of Das and Ranka. “Waving a Tiranga is not a crime,” Dipke said.
He was referring to the arrest of two leaders after they allegedly entered Jantar Mantar, which was recently denotified as a designated protest site. Dipke also said he expected he could face arrest for issuing the call, but insisted he would not be deterred. “My Tiranga is my pride and I will wave it,” he said.
Saurav Das, Ranka jailed Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were placed under preventive arrest for trespassing at Jantar Mantar, have been sent to five-day judicial custody. The two, along with Ajinkya Shinde, were booked on charges including bond violation and disruption of a public official’s duty.
The three leaders were produced before a magistrate at Mandir Marg in Delhi around 8:00 am on Wednesday morning. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke in a post on X said: “Ashu and Saurav have been sent to 5 days judicial custody. Their fault? Unfurling tricolour at Jantar Mantar. Show some guts, @narendramodi. If you’re so determined to crush dissent, have the courage to officially declare an Emergency instead of hiding behind these cowardly tactics.”
