DJB’s control centre launched to address plaints, GPS tracking
New Delhi: Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Verma on Wednesday launched the Intelligent Command and Control Centre (ICCC) of Delhi Jal Board (DJB). Under the digital platform, the entire water network will be on one screen, including consumer complaints, maintenance, hydraulic model, digital twin and water tanker fleet GPS tracking.
“For us, water management is not just about supplying water. It is equally important to prevent wastage, identify problems quickly and ensure that people do not have to suffer because of a pipeline leak or an avoidable disruption,” Verma said.
The ICCC platform brings together data from SCADA systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), smart meters, consumer complaints, maintenance systems and GPS-enabled field vehicles. Technology must translate into a visible improvement in the everyday lives of Delhi’s residents, he added.
“It will allow officials to monitor the network, identify vulnerable locations, track repair teams and review the status of complaints through an integrated dashboard,” an official said. According to officials, this system will provide real-time tracking of field crews, tankers and the Emergency Response Vehicle, along with location-based, faster resolution of consumer complaints.
JWIL is currently executing the DJB’s Chandrawal Water Supply Project under Packages 2, 3 and 4, covering areas that together account for approximately 10 per cent of Delhi’s population and geographical area, including important VIP areas; the same company will manage the Centre also. Using artificial intelligence tools, they can predict pipeline bursts, low-pressure zones and water demand requirements in the entire DJB network.
This will enable a gradual shift from responding to problems after they occur to identifying potential issues before they become major disruptions, he added.
