Bahraich : An FIR has been registered against nine named persons, including a district panchayat member, and around 100 unidentified people for allegedly obstructing a Ganesh idol immersion procession, making objectionable remarks and threatening participants with death here, officials said on Wednesday. Two accused have been arrested in connection with the case, they said.

According to the police, the FIR was registered at Fakharpur police station on October 5 based on a complaint lodged by Omkar Nath, priest of the Shri Ram Janaki Temple in Madhavpur village. The incident mentioned in the FIR allegedly took place on September 25.
