Burglary spree rattles Nizamabad, residents demand action
Nizamabad: A spate of housebreakings and thefts across Nizamabad district has triggered widespread concern among residents, with suspected organised gangs targeting locked houses after conducting preliminary surveillance.
According to residents, burglars reportedly monitor neighbourhoods, track household routines and identify homes left unattended while occupants are away for work, business or travel. The criminals allegedly strike after confirming prolonged absence, raising concerns about residential security.
Although many households have installed CCTV cameras, residents say surveillance alone cannot prevent thefts without regular maintenance, active monitoring and increased police patrolling, particularly at night.
Police and civic groups have urged people planning to travel to inform trusted neighbours, secure valuables and avoid sharing travel plans on social media. Residents have also been advised to report suspicious movements promptly.
Locals have called on law enforcement authorities to intensify night patrols and strengthen security measures across vulnerable residential colonies to curb the rising incidents.
