Nizamabad: District Collector ElaTripathi has warned rice traders against hoarding and selling rice above government-prescribed rates, stating that strict action would be taken against violators. She said consumers must not be burdened by unfair pricing.
The Collector inaugurated a low-cost rice retail outlet established by Gajanan Rice Mill Industry near Goshala Road at Gandhi Ganj Kaman on Monday. She appreciated the management for selling BPT and HMT varieties below the government ceiling prices and urged traders to maintain reasonable rates.
Tripathi said special teams comprising Revenue and Civil Supplies officials would conduct surprise inspections across the district to check violations.
Gajanan Industry operator HitenBhimani said a 26-kg bag of premium BPT steam rice costs Rs1,510, while HMT rice is priced at Rs2,030. Sales are limited to one bag per family per month against Aadhaar verification to prevent bulk purchases.
