SCR intensifies water quality checks at Nizamabad station

Nizamabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified water quality monitoring and maintenance at Nizamabad railway station and adjoining railway colonies under the Hyderabad division to ensure safe drinking water for passengers and residents.

During a special drive conducted from August 21 to September 28, officials tested 531 drinking water samples for residual chlorine, with all samples found satisfactory. Another 134 samples underwent bacteriological analysis and tested negative for E. coli contamination.

Engineering and medical department officials jointly inspected groundwater sources, municipal supply lines, storage facilities, Ground Level Reservoirs and High Level Reservoirs. Chlorination systems and distribution networks were also reviewed.

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava directed officials to maintain continuous vigilance and ensure compliance with Indian Railways Medical Manual standards.

He stressed frequent sampling and prompt preventive measures to ensure uninterrupted access to safe drinking water.
