Dwadasha Kamalasana Maha Yagna from Oct 7

Rajamahendravaram: TheGadala Sri Mahalakshmi Peetham will host the Dwadasha Kamalasana Sri Chakra Maha Yagna from October 7 to 11, marking a rare event in the spiritual history of the state, Peethadhipathi Dr Chinna Venkanna Babu Swamiji said. A special 28-foot-wide homa Kundam in the shape of a 12-petalled lotus is being constructed for the five-day yagna. Swamiji said this would be the first maha yagna of its kind to be conducted on such a large scale. Arrangements were being made to procure the required ritual materials and other articles from different parts of the country. The poster for the maha yagna was unveiled at the Mahalakshmi Peetham on Sunday by Vamangari Bala Prasad, Superintending Engineer of the Telangana State Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, Swamiji said the yagna was being organised with the resolve that devotees and good people would overcome astrological and planetary afflictions and lead happy and prosperous lives. He said the event would be conducted on an unprecedented scale despite the considerable expenditure and effort involved. He said he had undertaken the Sri Kathora Bala Tripura Bhairavi Deeksha and performed uninterrupted chanting with the welfare of the world and the well-being of disciples in mind.

The maha yagna, he explained, was intended as a divine offering of the spiritual merit gained through the completion of the Japa Deeksha to Goddess Mahalakshmi.

The presiding deity is worshipped at the Peetham in several forms, including Mahalakshmi, Sri Chakravahini, Bhairavi, Bala Tripurasundari, Shakambari Devi and Varahi Devi, he said. Explaining the spiritual significance of the ritual, Swamiji said this yagna was a rare and highly significant spiritual observance. He said the Bhairavi form symbolised the radiance of spiritual austerity, the destruction of ignorance and fearlessness. Bala Tripurasundari occupies a special place in the Sri Vidya tradition and represents purity, the development of consciousness, knowledge and willpower, he added.

The 12-petalled lotus-shaped Homa Kundam would serve as a sacred altar for Sri Vidya, Surya, Vishnu and Ganesha worship. Homa rituals on the 12 petals remove all bad effects of 12 Rasi chakras, he explained. Swamiji extended a cordial invitation to devotees and spiritual seekers expected to attend the event from different parts of the region and beyond.
