The donated organs reached Rajamahendravaram Airport from KIMS Bollineni Hospital through the green corridor on Friday
Rajamahendravaram: KIMS Bollineni Hospital in Rajamahendravaram has performed its first kidney transplantation, marking a significant step in the development of advanced medical services in the city. The procedure was made possible through the organ donation of Adapa Sudheer, who was declared brain-dead, with his family’s decision helping save the lives of four patients. Despite their profound personal loss, Sudheer’s parents came forward to donate his organs, giving hope to those families awaiting life-saving treatment. His lungs, kidneys and liver were allocated to patients in different cities, according to hospital sources.
As part of the organ donation process, both lungs were transported to Hyderabad, one kidney was sent to Visakhapatnam, the second kidney was transplanted at KIMS Bollineni Hospital in Rajamahendravaram, and the liver was sent to Srikakulam. The donation enabled four patients to receive life-saving organs.
Green corridors were arranged to facilitate the swift transportation of the organs. Special routes were coordinated from KIMS Bollineni Hospital to Rajamahendravaram Airport and from the hospital towards Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam to minimise delays and ensure the organs reached their destinations in time.
