Private bus catches fire in Srikakulam, no casualties reported

An incident of a major disaster was averted here in the Narasannapeta region of Srikakulam district after a private travel bus caught fire on its way from Bhadrachalam to Palasa when it was nearing Jammu junction in Narsannapet in the district.

The blaze broke out in the rear seat of the bus and engulfed the entire bus in no time, leaving it completely charred.

However, the five passengers, two drivers and a cleaner alighted on to the road immediately and escaped danger. Further details about the incident are awaited. The traffic at the Jammu junction got snarled up for a while due to the fire, but the police soon cleared it.
