Fire breaks out at Venture Automotive unit in Sri City
Tirupati: Days after a deadly boiler explosion claimed five lives in Sri City, another industrial unit witnessed a fire on Thursday, raising fresh concerns over safety measures in the industrial hub.
The fire broke out at Venture Automotive India Private Limited in Sri City SEZ in Tirupati district. The flames were noticed in the machinery section of the unit, following which company employees alerted the Sri City fire services. Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control before it could spread to other sections of the facility.
Company officials said the incident was minor and there were no casualties. However, some machinery and other property were damaged in the fire. The company was yet to assess the extent of the damage and the financial loss caused by the incident.
The latest fire comes in the wake of the boiler explosion at TIL Healthcare in Sri City on October 3. The accident claimed the lives of five workers and left several others injured. The explosion triggered a fire at the pharmaceutical unit and prompted a major rescue operation.
Following the fatal accident, the district administration directed industries in Sri City to conduct safety audits and review safety arrangements at their premises. Thursday’s incident has once again highlighted the importance of strict implementation of fire prevention and emergency response measures in the industrial area.
