MLA Srinivas leads cleanliness drive in Tirupati

Tirupati: As part of the ‘Swachh Andhra–Swarna Andhra’ campaign, Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivas and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jayakrishna led a comprehensive cleanliness drive at the Malvadigundam canal in NGO Colony on Saturday.

Accompanied by corporation officials and NDA alliance leaders, they actively cleaned the canal area and planted saplings.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Arani Srinivas emphasized that a clean Andhra is the sole pathway to achieving a ‘Swarna Andhra.’ He reminded citizens that sanitation is a collective duty belonging to every resident rather than sanitation workers alone, noting that health and development follow cleanliness.

He credited the overarching vision to leaders including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh.

Commissioner Jayakrishna called on the public to unite in keeping the holy city clean and beautiful. He appealed to residents to refrain from indiscriminate garbage dumping, segregate wet and dry waste before handing it to sanitation workers, and drastically reduce plastic usage.

Emphasizing youth involvement, he administered a formal cleanliness pledge to all participants.

The drive was attended by Deputy Commissioner Amaraiah, TTD Board Member Panabaka Lakshmi, Greenery and Beautification Chairperson Sugunamma, Yadav Corporation Chairman Narasimha Yadav, Rudrakoti Sadashivam, Gangamma Temple Chairman Mahesh Yadav, JB Srinivas, Deputy Mayor RC Munikrishna, Anna Anitha, and Health Officer Dr Yuva Anvesh Reddy.
